Singaporean artist tobyato, with Singapore’s local premiere sneaker boutique, Limited Edt commemorate the end of the Year of the Dragon with a limited release Sneaker Stone Dragon.
This exclusive collaboration VandaWave colourway is inspired by the Vanda Miss Joaquim flower and incorporates vapourwave aesthetics through a gradient colour application, continuing to blend heritage with modern street culture.
In Asian culture, stone lions placed at the entrances of buildings usually serve as guardians, often welcoming guests as they arrive. Art served as a gateway for tobyato into sneakers and, by extension, broader street culture. Here, the tobyato presents his own remix of the classic stone lions, merging the bodies of the mythical creatures with sneaker parts such as shoelaces, shoe tongues and stitching. These Sneaker Stone dragons serve as an embodiment of his “welcome” and entry into street culture that he’s grateful to experience as an Artist.
